Lesender Arbeiter made a post about an Essay by George Orwell earlier.

It made me think of this article that circulated among me and some friends. None of us were surprised, which in itself is very sad. It says something about the state of the world and the US empire in particular. The New York City Department wants to ban 50 words from school tests. It uses the explanation that certain words might make students feel uneasy. Words like dinosaur, divorce and evolution are among them. If this does not make your inner alarm bell go off, I don't know what will. It's a scary and sick development but unfortunately it's not really a surprising one.

  1. The list also contains words like " homelessness, expensive pool houses, sex, nuclear weapons, war and slavery. I see what are they doing here: lets all ignore the "white elephant in the room" and it will disappear. Lets all not talk about how unfair the world is and everyone will be equal, about how some people think they have more rights over this Earth than others and wars and slavery will be erased from human history, lets not teach sexual education, and there will be no more mutilated girls, not more pregnant teenagers or ruined people.
That seems like a good idea, the "Newspeak" will create a better world in our minds where the most frigthful place is "the ministry of love"
